Shelf Full of Books

I blog about about the books I read which range from children's books to suspense/thrillers. The books are recently published.

Around the World Adventures of Max and Jack by Emily Overton

Around the World Adventures of Max and Jack created for young children to understand more about other countries and children from around the world. It is less of a story book and more of a fact book. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t interesting.

Max and his pet dog take you on a trip to a new country in each book where they meet new boys and girls and their animal friends who take them on a guided tour where they see some of the wonderful things of their country and learn some of the interesting things of that country.

The whole purpose of these books is to increase tolerance between children of different nations. But I think it is also a great resource for young school children to get facts for early school reports too. There are excellent pictures to look at if families will be traveling to these countries that could be used to help spark the interest of the child in preparation before the trip.

The pictures are clear and crisp. The only thing I didn’t like about the pictures was the one page where the world map was oriented 90 degrees to the rest of the book. I would have like to have seen the page oriented the same way as the rest of the book.

The text is simple with the letters like “g” being written as we do when we print which is helpful for young children learning to read.

Max talked like a child which was very appropriate. The book is a very good book for reading with a parent. I think parents and children will enjoy it. I gave it 4 stars out of 5.

Thank you to the author for providing the book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
