Shelf Full of Books

I blog about about the books I read which range from children's books to suspense/thrillers. The books are recently published.

Crowned by Julia Dweck

Crowned starts out with these three words “Believe in yourself.” That’s what this book is about.

Quinn is a fairy with the dream of becoming the fairy princess. So she makes all the preparations. She gets her dress ready. She prepares her sceptre. She puts her crown on her head and then tries to think how to find a hero to make her into a queen. She goes in search of one kissing all the frogs, looking in all the mirrors and all the other things princesses have done in fairy tales. She doesn’t find one.

So when she comes upon an ogre, she takes matters into her own hands and stands up to him herself. All the fairies in the land decide to make her queen because she is brave and smart.

It’s then that Quinn realizes that all she had to do was believe in herself and she could reach for her dreams herself. She didn’t have to wait for someone to fulfill them.

I really enjoyed the rhyming style of this story. It helps make the story flow and is fun to read.

The pictures are a delight! I think they were my favourite part of the book.

The lesson about believing in yourself is so important for young girls. Believe in yourself. You don’t have to wait for someone to do it for you, just believe in yourself and reach for your dreams.

The best part of Julia Dweck’s books is the messages they have to teach young children. I rated Crowned 5 stars out of 5.

Thank you to the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.
